Rescue Buoy (Rettungsboje) were pioneering rescue craft created by during WWII to act as floating rescue stations for the downed Axis Luftwaffe pilots.
Filled with beds, supplies and even boardgames to keep stranded airmen and sailors occupied while the awaited rescue, they were some of the most obscure and unusual inventions of the Battle of Britian.
